Crystal Lake is a 175-acre reservoir located in Essex County, in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Sitting less than a mile from the New Hampshire/Massachusetts border, this lake is roughly 37 miles north of Boston and 33 miles north of Salem, Massachusetts.

The closest place for urgent care is the Holy Family Hospital-Haverhill, seven miles southeast. The Boston Logan International Airport is situated 44 miles south.

Crystal Clear Waters

Crystal Lake stretches 175 acres with an average depth of seven feet and a maximum depth of 65 feet. Although boating of any kind isn’t allowed, shore fishing and ice-fishing have become popular activities on Crystal Lake.

This lake produces good-sized largemouth bass every year. Anglers will also be lucky to find pickerel, black crappie, bluegill, pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, and more.

Besides fishing, wildlife watching and hiking are two other popular activities here. Crystal Lake is home to many ospreys, small rodents, and beavers!

Canobie Lake Park is an amusement park in Salem, New Hampshire, located about 31 miles north of Boston. This park offers visitors plenty of activities, like a water park, snow tour, and roller coasters.

Kayaking is a popular pastime on the nearby Merrimack River. Enjoy the 10 mile stretch of river from Haverhill to Newburyport. Merrimack is also a popular spot for fishing during the summer. If you cast a line here, expect to catch largemouth bass, carp, shad, rainbow trout, bullhead, and more.
