Lake Oconee covers about 19,000 acres with 374 miles of shoreline in Greene, Morgan, and Putnam counties in Georgia. It is conveniently located approximately 60 miles away from Atlanta and Augusta and about 30 miles from Athens, home of the University of Georgia.

Lake Oconee is known for its good fishing waters. Anglers frequently catch largemouth bass, white bass, striped bass, hybrid striped bass, crappie, and catfish. Fish in Lake Oconee can grow to massive sizes, with the record fish record being an almost 70-pound blue catfish.
