Little Seneca Lake is located in Montgomery County, Maryland, nestled in the Piedmont ecoregion between the Appalachian Mountains and the Atlantic Coastal Plain.

Washington, D.C. is under 35 miles away for a big-city trip. Fairfax Medical is under three miles away, and there are two airports within 40 miles: Washington Dulles International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The lake was built to provide an emergency water supply for the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, only 29 miles away. Today, the 505-acre lake serves as a recreational lake in Black Hill Regional Park.
